Nuri Sardine Pâté in Olive Oil

Since 1920, Nuri has been made by hand at the Pinhais cannery in Matosinhos, Portugal, using recipes and equipment almost unchanged a century on. Their pâté uses the same sardines as the classic tins, blended with olive oil, tomato, carrot and a little chickpea, then seasoned with clove and bay leaf, the same aromatics that go into Nuri's sardine tins. The result is smooth, savoury and gently spiced, a traditional Portuguese petisco (snack).
