Products and sourcing

What's the shelf life of your tins?

One of the beauties of tinned fish is that you can enjoy top quality fish that retains its freshness, but without having to panic about eating it quickly, helping reduce unnecessary food waste.

Most of our tins will last for years if stored in a cool, dry place, but we strongly recommend checking individual tins to make sure you enjoy them before their use by date.

How should I store them - before and after opening?

For unopened tins, just store them in a cool, dry place like your kitchen cupboard.

Once opened, most tins should be stored in the fridge and eaten within 24 hours, but always check your tin for specific instructions as not every tin is the same (some will last a few days)

Where does the fish come from?

All the tinned fish we supply is sourced sustainably. The saltwater fish is all wild caught, trout is sustainably farmed, and seafood is grown in cold, clean waters.

We work with producers who focus on quality, freshness and sustainability and want to ensure we maintain fish stocks (and the supply of delicious tinned fish!)

Are the tins recyclable / how should I dispose of the packaging?

Yes, the tins and cardboard boxes are recyclable. Please clean them before recycling, and follow your local council's instructions

How can I find out what allergens are included in a tin?

We list ingredients for all tins on individual product pages and mark allergens in bold. However, we always recommend double checking the ingredients when you receive your tins and before consuming them

How do I place an order, and what payment methods do you accept?

About our business

Who's behind Tin and Brine, and why tinned fish?

We’re James and Isaac, childhood friends since primary school. We grew up near the coast with a love of food, and ate plenty of tinned fish as kids.

Through Isaac's Portuguese girlfriend and exposure to the high quality, traditional conservas in Portugal, and joint holidays to Portugal, the idea for Tin and Brine was born.

We're committed to selling the best quality tinned fish and seafood and introducing it to British shelves.

Are you an independent/small business?

Yes! We’re small but ambitious, and want to share the best tinned fish and seafood with the world. We’re based in South East London, only minutes from the location of the world’s first commercial cannery in Bermondsey.
