Jose Gourmet Sardines in Azores Butter

As butter lovers, this is one of our favourite tins. A rare break from the traditional olive oil: plump Atlantic sardines are packed with butter from the Azores, the Portuguese islands where dairy cows graze outdoors all year round. Canned by 100 Mistérios in Matosinhos, north of Porto, the sardines are packed in the butter and sealed in the tin, leaving the flesh soft, flaky and almost confit-like. It tastes rounder and creamier than an oil-packed sardine, with the butter blending with the fish flavours for a delicious savoury treat.
