Ati Manel Sardines in Spiced Olive Oil

Plump, whole Atlantic sardines packed in olive oil with a small chilli, slices of carrot and gherkin. The heat is real but pleasant, while the carrot and pickle add sweetness and sharpness to cut through the rich fish. Ati Manel is named after the great-grandfather of one of its founders, who ran his own Portuguese cannery in the mid-20th century. The brand was revived by Luís Mendonça and Adriano Ribeiro, the pair behind Jose Gourmet.
